Room Parent Tips
MyClassroomPARTY is here to make your life easier! We want to make sure you are as prepared as possible for party day with as little work as possible. Here are a few tips that can help party day run smoothly.
The QR codes on the activity bags will take you to videos that show the game or activity being performed. If you want to know exactly what to anticipate for party day, you can watch these quick videos before even entering the classroom.
Our Party Kits are designed to run as an entire class party or they can be broken up as separate party stations.
Below is a list of tips and resources from former and current room parents.
- Email a welcome letter introducing yourself as this years room parent.
- Make sure to let the parents know early on that volunteers for the parties are really appreciated and help make party day run smoothly.
- Plan ahead and collect money at the beginning of the year for classroom parties. This avoids having to reach out three or four times a year asking for funds to cover the parties.
- Don't forget to have fun in the room parent roll. Elementary school years go by so fast. If you feel like you have a lot on your plate, try to find a co-room parent to help lighten the load.
We love sharing tips and tricks to help make parents' lives easier. Below you'll find links to Room Mom Rescue. The owner of these informational sites is Amy. She has a wonderful library full of useful information. This is a great spot for parents to find resources on all things room parent related.
Not sure where to start when you want to collect money from the parents/guardians for class parties? Here is a sample letter below to get you started.
Hi Parents of (insert teacher’s name) class,
My name is _________ and I am the room parent for (insert teacher’s name) class. I am excited for our (add the party name you'll be planning) party this year. The party will be on (enter date) at (enter time). I found a company that puts together complete Party Kits for classroom parties. Instead of sending out a sign-up and having you all run to the store, I'd like to just collect money from everyone and order a kit. The cost for the party will be $____ per student. This will cover all decorations, games, activities, crafts and snacks (or you can bring the snacks yourself if you order a kit that does not include snacks).
Will you please Venmo me (or enter your preferred payment method) @(enter Venmo name) the $____ for your student when you have a chance? Put your student’s name in the comments so that I can track who has paid. If you want to look at all the fun our students will be enjoying, you can see details of the Party Kits at www.MyClassroomPARTY.com.
We'd love to have volunteers to help run some of the stations on party day. If you are interested in coming in to help, please send me an email and let me know.
